The MLK futsal field
A field of their own.
Years of advocacy became a place for young people to play, learn and belong.
For much of its history, the Martin Luther King Jr. Educational Campus had no outdoor playing surface for sports and physical education. After securing an initial $300,000 grant in 2015 and additional city funding, Coach Jake helped carry the project from conception to completion.
The field was completed in 2020 and dedicated on September 17, 2021. On January 18, 2023, it was officially dedicated in Coach Jake’s name in recognition of his years of service to the team and campus.
